Denmark
In the birthplace of The Little Mermaid, Northern Europe’s largest aquarium immerses visitors in the undersea world.
Covering 12,000 m2, and surrounded by water, the National Aquarium Denmark lets visitors experience the aquatic world. From the central gallery, five 'arms' lead to different areas dedicated to various aquatic ecosystems. Here you can walk from the life-rich waters of the Amazon to the colorful coral reefs of the tropics, the African great lakes, and the frigid waters of the North Atlantic, to see the indigenous species of each. One of the highlights is the 16 m (52 ft) long shark tunnel, where cartilaginous creatures and colorful fish stream by on all sides.
