This impressive tower stands as a resilient testament to the passage of time, defying its construction from modest materials like mud and camel hair.
Nestled on the southwestern outskirts of Ar Rass, the Al Shinanah Tower stands with a distinctive truncated conical shape, soaring to 88.5 feet in height. Its interior is divided into eight floors, accessed through a narrow entrance. Despite its seemingly fragile composition of mud and camel hair, the tower's endurance becomes evident through its history, tracing back to its construction in 1699. Functioning as a watchtower, Al Shinanah Tower played roles in various intertribal conflicts and clashes between the Ottomans and Arabs. Notably, it served as a military outpost during the Battle of Shinanah in 1904. Its slender form, balanced atop a slightly elevated terrain, is a remarkable example of Qassim architecture. Al Shinanah Tower offers visitors an opportunity to witness this historic marvel year-round. Recent renovations ensure a comfortable experience for visitors, and the tower's height of 27 meters provides sweeping vistas across the horizon.
