Argentina
You'd have to be made of stone not to enjoy this peaceful slice of countryside.
Centinela is a hiking park and a peculiar rock formation of the same name – a stone standing on another stone in perfect balance. Situated on Centinela hill in an area surrounding the city of Tandil, this is a beautiful and peaceful area with eucalyptus and pine trees, where one would be in the company of singing birds and “whispering winds,” as the local legend says. The site is a great option for nature lovers who want to enjoy the Argentinian countryside at a slower pace, or a family with children needing to stretch their legs during a journey to or from Buenos Aires. Visitors can bike, rock-gaze, try ziplining, horse riding, or have asado for lunch in the local tavern (or, do all of the above). It is recommended to visit Cerro El Centinela during warm seasons, but if visiting during winter, it is recommended to bring additional warm clothing as it is much colder there than in Buenos Aires. The site tends to get crowded during weekends, so try to come early if you want to avoid crowds.
