Lithia Park

Just a century ago the heart of this perfect green space was a droll flour mill.

About

Back in the early 1990s, John McLaren, who designed San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, was commissioned to make Lithia Park on the grounds of an old flour mill. The results of his labor is this ideal green space right in the center of Ashford. Here you’ll find a formal rose garden, Japanese garden, two duck ponds, and sprawling English landscape garden. All of these eventually give way to undeveloped forest along the Ashland Creek. Of course, there’s plenty more to do than just walk. There’s also tennis courts, a playground, an amphitheatre for events, and during the winter, an ice-skating rink, and an amphitheater.
