Portugal
Elected as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal, the Mira de Aire Caves are the largest in Portugal at an astonishing 11 kilometres in length.
Visitors can explore 600 m of the vast network of caves and admire the stunning stalagmites and stalactites that have formed over their 150-million-year history. A unique atmosphere is created by coloured lights, which emphasize the beauty of the natural rock. With names like the “jellyfish”, the “Martian” and the magnificent “organ”, the cave's unuasual limestone formations are a unique site, even for seasoned underground explorers. Near the caves there are several restaurants as well as a small water park for visitors young and old to make the most of their trip. Please note that, due to the number of stairs, the caves are not accessible to those with mobility issues and we recommend looking into ticket and tour options prior to your departure at http://www.grutasmiradaire.com/pt/62/grutas-de-mira-de-aire-uma-das-7-maravilhas-naturais-de-portugal
