Anis Museum
Learn about the history of the region's traditional liqueur before tasting it for yourself in this historic distillery-turned-museum.
About
Since the 19th century, the scenic whitewashed town of Rute has hosted a thriving anis liqueur industry. Today, the industry is still flourishing, with numerous âbodegasâ producing their own version of the spirit. At the Anis Museum, housed in a distillery from 1908, visitors can learn the history and tradition of the liqueurâs production - from its origins to the present day. Accompanying the exhibits, are still-operating stills, showcases with history of the anisados, production paraphernalia, and a collection of old photographs and printing dies of old labels. To complete the experience, visitors are also able to sample the final product, or purchase some to take with them.
