Constructed in the 9th century, Atsquri Fortress guarded southern Georgia from potential invasions and remains a formidable presence atop a towering cliff. The expansive fortress comprised multiple sections, some of which have since collapsed, with the highest point occupied by the citadel. Its sprawling territory encompasses the remains of a church adorned with fragments of ancient frescoes. Access to the fortress was limited to a narrow tunnel painstakingly carved into the rocky terrain, ensuring that even if the tunnel were breached, the complex internal quarters would remain difficult for enemies to conquer. Although the fortress fell under Ottoman occupation in the 16th century, it was eventually liberated in 1829 as a result of the Treaty of Adrianople. Yes! A return trip will take you back to your city of origin in the same size car in which you arrived. Return trips can be booked for the any day. You can also add customized sightseeing stops separately for each trip! Don’t worry if you don’t know your exact address at the time of booking - you’ll have the opportunity to update us closer to your travel date. Make sure to select “Return” when you start the booking process, then choose the dates and times of your departures.

Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used.
