Soaring white cliffs surround a lush rainforest that was sacred to the Aboriginal people.
Carnarvon Gorge stretches out for 30 kilometres through the Carnarvon National Park, between sandstone cliffs that rise as high as six hundred metres. The site was held sacred by aboriginal people, who say the gorge was made by the Rainbow Serpent, which still resides in the permanent waterholes to this day. While it would take days to explore all of the hiking trails that spread out through the park, there are a number of shorter walks that can be done in under 2 hours that will still showcase the area's natural beauty and unique wildlife, such as wallabies or the elusive platypus.
