Duras

This town holds a stunning castle and local wine by the bottle - what more could you want?

About

Aside from its tasty wines, Duras is best known for its Chateau. First built in the 12th century, it was transformed in the 17th century for residential use, suffered damage during the Revolution but was then renovated in the 20th century. Spend your time wandering through this ancient castle and peering into the many rooms, the original bakery in the castle, and visit the tower to gaze upon the views over the valley below. The other tourism spectacle is the Maison de Vins (House of Wine), which holds a very varied and broad range of local wine, topping it off with an exhibition about the local wine industry. If you’d like to spend a few hours strolling through a charming French wine inspired town with an ancient castle, this is the place for you
