Jack Daniel's Distillery
Pay a visit to Americaâs oldest distillery to learn the story of the beloved liquor.
About
After learning the art of distilling from a moonshine-making preacher and his enslaved Master Distiller, Nathan "Nearest" Green, Jack Daniel started his own distillery with Nearest in 1866. As the first licensed distillery in the US, Jack Daniel's had its share of ups and downs, from winning the Gold Medal at the 1904 Worldâs Fair, to shutting down because of Prohibition and World War II. But after Frank Sinatra, Rock & Roll, and pop culture got a taste of Jack, it gripped the world by the tongue and skyrocketed to international stardom. Today, you can join a guided tour of the distillery to see their traditional whiskey-making process in action, from the spring water to charcoal making to aging barrels. Of course, any good tour isnât complete without a tasting, so add on a flight, or try some samples directly from the barrel. The experience is even more special when you remember that the distillery is in a county that prohibits alcohol sales! For more information, please visit jackdaniels.com/visit-distillery
