In 1969, it was dedicated to former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson for her environmental conservation work. With only 5% of the world's old-growth redwood forest remaining, and a significant portion within Redwood National and State Parks, this trail showcases the transition from second-growth to ancient redwood forests.
