In order for researchers and conservation specialists to study this region's rich flora and fauna, including rare plants and wildlife unique to Brazil, they had to create a protected zone against human interference. Thus, the União Biological Reserve was born in 1998. This reserve is located in Rio de Janeiro state and protects a crucial segment of the Atlantic Forest ecosystem. The reserve is a critical habitat for numerous endangered species and plays a vital role in environmental protection and scientific research. Its landscape encompasses dense forests, varied vegetation zones, and critical watershed areas that contribute to regional environmental sustainability. Its main species include the endangered golden lion tamarin, maned sloth, cougar, ocelot, and white-necked hawk. Take a guided tour, or explore the pavilions and trails independently.

Yes! A return trip will take you back to your city of origin in the same size car in which you arrived. Return trips can be booked for the any day. You can also add customized sightseeing stops separately for each trip! Don’t worry if you don’t know your exact address at the time of booking - you’ll have the opportunity to update us closer to your travel date. Make sure to select “Return” when you start the booking process, then choose the dates and times of your departures.

You will receive the vehicle that best fits the number of travelers in your group, ranging from a sedan to a van for groups of up to 7. Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used. We will send you the exact vehicle details a few days before your trip.
