Vlkolinec
Vlkoklinec is a small village in Central Slovakia where historical traditions, houses, lifestyles, and crafts are still preserved today and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
About
Vlkoklinec is one of ten similar villages in Slovakia granted UNESCO status as a folk architecture reservation and remains largely untouched with artifacts that date back to the fifteenth-century. The village transports visitors back to a different time when life seemed so much simpler than it is today. Although most of the 45 log houses are still lived in (the population of the village is 35), two houses have been converted to museums featuring historical displays with traditional tools, artwork, crafts, cornhusk dolls, wood carvings and old-style kitchens. Visitors can also try their hand at weaving on the traditional weaving loom. To experience a true feel of the past, then hand pump some water from the wooden well in the center of the village and stop off at the village store and sample the local delicacy â warm, homemade poppy seed nut roll to give your eyeteeth for.
