Abandoned IL-76

Despite its size, no one really knows how this huge Soviet cargo plane ended up here.

Theories abound as to how the Abandoned IL-76 ended up at a likewise abandoned airfield. This heavy cargo lifter was used by the Soviet, and subsequently, Russian Air Force from the 70s until the mid-90s. But after this, things get foggy. It was registered to Air Cess in 1997 and Centrafrican Airlines from 1998 to 2000, both of which have ties to Viktor Bout, a notorious arms dealer in the 90s. The plane was abandoned here in 1999 without any recorded reason. It could have been purchased to be used as a restaurant, while another theory says it made an emergency landing here and never left. Though the most likely scenario is it was purchased for scrap and abandoned after all the valuable components had been stripped. Even the hotel with its name plastered across the plane has any idea how it got there.
