Nestled in the heart of IsraelтАЩs Negev Desert, Avdat National Park is one of the countryтАЩs most accessible natural wonders. Here, the waters of the Avdat spring create one of the desertтАЩs longest oases, and for thousands of years has been attracting both people and animals. A hike up the rocky canyon provides spectacular desert views with the greenery of the oasis amidst the rocky landscape creating a stunning contrast. As you work your way up the canyon, youтАЩll pass caves carved into the rock face that were used by Byzantine-era monks. If you prefer history to nature, you can head directly to the remains of Avdat city - a Nabatean Period settlement where youтАЩll find a well-preserved Byzantine-era bathhouse, a Roman burial cave, and various other ruins.
