Ha Ha Tonka State Park was originally a lavish, European castle-inspired manor built by Kansas City businessman Robert McClure Snyder, Sr. Unfortunately, Rob Sr. died in a car accident before his mansion was finished, so his sons completed the castle. This lavish manor was short lived - it was destroyed by a fire in 1942 and left abandoned. Today, the Ha Ha Tonka State Park still showcases the beautiful landscape that attracted the Snyders. Hike through the forest past clear springs, search out beautiful rock formations, or relax in the shadow of the ruined castle as you look out over the forest and hills, with a blue lake far below.
