Sweden; the motherland of IKEA - what better place to have The IKEA Museum? The first ever store opened in ├Дlmhult in 1958, and so it is fitting that the museum is housed in the very same building. ItтАЩs dedicated to telling the story of the furniture giantтАЩs humble beginnings, with the then-17-year-old founder Ingvar Kamprad starting by trading matches as a boy. Explore recreated living spaces from different eras that showcase how IKEA furniture and design have evolved over time, and head to the тАЬDemocratic DesignтАЭ exhibit for an insight to the design process for IKEA products. A restaurant serves up traditional Swedish cuisine and a gift shop sells cute IKEA products, with an outlet store just nearby. Journey through IKEA history from the 1940тАЩs to present day at the museum, open every day from 10AM to 6PM for US$5.80.
