The Midas Monument, or Yaz─▒l─▒kaya are the remains of a series of monuments, primarily from the 8th to the 6th century BC. The most impressive is the namesake тАШMidas MonumentтАЩ, a rendering of a temple entrance carved directly into a rock face in the 7th or 6th century BC. Ornamented with geometric figures. On the top, an inscription in Old Phrygian states itтАЩs dedicated to King Midas. Nearby, a rock outcrop was hollowed out into a Hellenistic tomb on one side, and a Byzantine settlement on the other. Around the site, youтАЩll find other tombs and ancient structures, such as huge Phrygian cisterns that fed a healing stream on the lower terrace.
