Built in the 17th century by Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar, Nijagal Fort witnessed a historic battle between Hyder Ali and Peshwa Madhavrao. The trek is a perfect adventure for families and friends, boasting a straightforward trail leading through the jungle to the fort gates. As you ascend, the fort reveals its wondersтАФan Anjanaya temple, a Dargah, a pond, and ancient temples in ruins. Nijagal Siddara cave temple and a Dargah await exploration on the next level. The summit unveils balancing rocks resembling an open-air theatre, with a stunning cave offering panoramic views of the Shivagange hill. Accessible via a muddy road, the trek provides scenic views of paddy fields and village life. Despite being relatively unexplored, Nijagal Betta offers tranquility away from the bustling crowds. This hill stands as a symbol of religious unity with a Hanuman temple and Dargah coexisting peacefully.
