Da Nang Port to Hue: Private day trip

Hue was the historic seat of the Nguyễn lords, who controlled all of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, and made the city their imperial capital. Hue was devastated during the Vietnam War, being bombed by the Americans, while the Communists massacred thousands in what’s been called the ‘largest atrocity of the war’. Despite this, Hue’s pride and culture persisted, and today the city is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its distinctive identity. At its heart, the Imperial City, a vast walled complex that was once home to the Vietnamese Emperors - they even have their own ‘Forbidden City’. Artefacts from this era, ranging from traditional garments to artwork are on display at the Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities. Hue also has its own distinct cuisine, which shouldn’t be missed, be it at a themed royal banquet, or one of the 50 varieties of sweet soup.
