Rovinj is located on the northern Adriatic Sea and is coastal Istria’s star attraction. The city is often characterized by its variety of stone and rocky beaches. The heart of Rovinj is its old town, which has protected since 1963. The old town is perched on an elevated peninsula surrounded by Venetian houses and the majestic Cathedral of St. Euphemia. The Baroque church sits on a hill and contains the remains of St. Euphemia, the patron saint of the city. A variety of of artistic styles such as Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Romanesque, and Neoclassical elements can also be found spread across the old town. Many restaurants, cafes, and clubs have also taken root in Rovinj along with its growing popularity as a tourist destination.
