Kotor to Ulcinj: Private day trip

This ancient seaport has been passed between empires for 2000 years, and today is mostly populated by Albanians. Famous for the 12km long Long Beach, the lengthiest in Montenegro, the city also has plenty to offer visitors who want to keep out of the water. The beachfront Sailors’ Mosque was constructed by the Moors in the 14th century, presumably as a place for their merchants to pray. Nearby Pasha’s mosque was made using materials stolen from Venetian merchants as retribution for a Venetian attack on the town, and is home to the only Turkish bath in Montenegro. On a hill overlooking the bay is the Old Town, protected by massive stone walls, parts of which are from the original Illyrian fortification. A true pirate town, visitors can still see the slave market where Ulcinj pirates ransomed villa owners captured in their coastal raids.
