Your driver will drop you off at your address in Puerto Aventuras.
Just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Cancun lies Puerto Aventuras, a small resort town with all the amenities of Cancun without all of the traffic and crowds. The Riviera Maya is among the most beautiful and luxurious vacation destinations of the 21st century and Daytrip has you covered with the two most popular ways to get around: shuttle buses and private car transfers.
This trip takes 1 hour and 20 minutes along the 307 Highway, which follows the shoreline of the Caribbean Sea. This highway connects all the resorts, seaside hamlets, and larger cities that make up the Yucatan Peninsula vacation network. You can stop by a cenote to appreciate this region’s unique geographical features, or tour ancient Mayan ruins along the way. Daytrip makes it easy to craft the vacation of your dreams, so let’s get started!
Puerto Aventuras was carved out from the lush tropical jungles along the shore of the Caribbean Sea in the 1980s. This stretch of the seaside on the Yucatan Peninsula was an economic development project supported by the Mexican government to bring international investment and showcase Mexico’s pristine natural beauty.
As Cancun exploded in popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, smaller resort towns like Puerto Aventuras were built to meet the demand for luxury vacations in tropical destinations. It is a short distance, only an 80-minute drive, from Cancun, but has a whole different atmosphere than the big city.
Puerto Aventuras is a small gated community located just outside of Playa del Carmen. It offers a more private, intimate vacation setting than Cancun while still having all the beachfront activities and amenities. You won’t find the flashy high-rise hotels of Cancun in Puerto Aventuras. It prides itself on being more low-key, with detached homes and private yards surrounded by lush vegetation.
The town of Puerto Aventuras has a year-round population of 22,000 people, but many more visit every dry season for the golf courses, secluded bungalows, luxurious spa amenities, and restaurants. The resorts have all-inclusive packages for on-site activities and even offer excursions out of the resort to local attractions, zip-lining over the jungle, and archaeological tours of Mayan ruins. For a relaxing vacation, Puerto Aventuras should be your next stop!
You have just a few preparations left to make before your Cancun to Puerto Aventuras transfer. Follow these helpful travel tips to make the vacation of your dreams a reality.
If you are traveling to Puerto Aventuras for just the day to eat at its restaurants, golf, or go sightseeing, call ahead for a reservation. Most of the properties have gated security and require a reservation before allowing you entry.
During the busy season, some excursions, boat rentals, tours, and spa treatments will need to be booked ahead of time. If there is an activity you and your family are dying to do, go ahead and reserve a spot.
The 307 highway connects Cancun to the resort towns dotted along the coast, including Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras. It is the only way to travel in this area, so transportation options are limited to cars and buses. Daytrip offers two ways to travel from Cancun to Puerto Aventuras: shuttle buses and private transfers. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages, so follow our transportation guide to learn more.

Puerto Aventuras’ many all-inclusive resorts have everything you could ever need or want for a relaxing seaside vacation. With fun for the whole family, there is something for everyone! Here are just a few activities you have to look forward to after your ride from Cancun to Puerto Aventuras:
Puerto Aventuras is a gateway to some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving spots in the Riviera Maya. You can take a boat tour to nearby coral reefs and explore the vibrant underwater world filled with tropical fish, sea turtles, and colorful coral. Dive shops in the area offer guided tours and equipment rentals for both beginners and experienced divers. Maybe this will be the year you go for scuba diving certification?
Enjoy a round of golf at the Puerto Aventuras Golf Course, an 18-hole, par-36 course designed by Tom Lehmann. The course is set amidst tropical landscapes and offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. Not a pro yet? Use their practice range to train your swing, or attend their classes for all ages!
The sports club also has artificial turf tennis courts for a competitive match with friends.
The fun doesn’t stop once you leave the resort! Plan excursions to the beautiful cenotes (natural sinkholes) found all over the Riviera Maya. These parks offer activities like swimming, snorkeling, and guided tours through underground rivers and caves. It is even possible to stop by Cenotes Las Mojarras and Chaak Tun on your Daytrip transfer from Cancun, so take advantage of the opportunity!
A typical year in Mexico’s tropical climate is divided into two seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season, from late November to April, is the best time to visit Puerto Aventuras. The sunny skies, minimal rainfall, and warm (but not too humid!) temperatures will make relaxing on the beach or renting a boat a pleasant and safe experience.
During the rainy season, from May to October, tropical storms and occasional hurricanes hit the coast. These weather events are important for maintaining Mexico’s lush tropical landscape by providing adequate rainfall and bringing deep-sea nutrients to the coastline. However, they may result in canceled flights, rained-out excursions, and dangerously high winds.

“Last minute plan change and Daytrip was our last resort so I chatted with them and had an immediate response from a real person, best situation ever. Never used Daytrip before but the reviews were incredible so we took the chance and booked a driver at like 11-12pm and by 7am the next morning when we woke, they found us a driver and the driver had already texed us making contact! Very impressed and will definitely use them again. We went from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Tivat, Montenegro.”

Nov 9, 2024“Andreas did a great job picking us up from Pireaus Cruise Port and taking us to our rental in Spata. The three of us had been on a long cruise and had 9 pieces of luggage. He arrived in an appropriate vehicle and loaded and unloaded all of it. We are very happy with out decision to book with Daytrip.”

The ride was smooth, on time and as a added bonus Temo was very informative about Cancun, Tulum and everywhere in between! By far he was the best driver we had the entire time! Also the van was very sanitized and we felt very safe . 5 stars and way to go from Andrew and Lara. Book with Daytrip and if you're lucky you will get Temo!”

May 10, 2021All Daytrip drivers speak English* as well as their native language (and sometimes additional languages too!). They'll be happy to discuss local history and culture with you, as well as answer any questions you may have. And because they speak the language, they're able to provide you with a unique opportunity to connect with local culture. *Drivers for Lite service aren't required to speak English but must meet all other standards.
We screen all our drivers for criminal and traffic records, and personally interview each one. We also inspect their cars for safety, comfort, and reliability. All cars must be less than ten years old, in excellent operating condition, and insured as required by local law. And because our drivers are locals, they're familiar with the rules and customs of the road.
If you’re traveling with children, make sure to let us know in the booking so we can get the appropriate child seats ready!
Pets are allowed (and loved)! We just need to know beforehand. You can tell us about them in the next phase of the booking.
Gratuity isn’t included or required, but if you really enjoyed your trip, you can show your driver your appreciation with an optional tip (10% is sufficient).
Each passenger is allowed to have one checked bag and one carry on. If you’re traveling with more bags or oversized luggage, you can adjust this while booking.
Pay by credit card online, or in cash directly to your driver!
If you have any questions, here are the answers.
