Add sightseeing stops at places like Italica, Ronda, or Antequera and learn about local culture from your English-speaking driver. Do your trip your way!

About Seville

After your drive from Malaga to Seville, you’ll be welcomed by the warm, Mediterranean climate and Andalusian flare.

Seville was founded over 2000 years ago, but it was the Moors who arguably left the most lasting and distinctive mark on the city. You'll see Islamic influence on the architecture throughout Seville, but the UNESCO-listed Alcazar is undoubtedly the pinnacle. While strolling the streets, you'll be shaded by some 48,000 orange trees, which are the symbol of the city, and their bitter oranges are used for marmalade. Seville is also the home of Flamenco dancing, and you can catch performances in its many tablaos.

Live like a local: siesta style

Spain copes with the intense heat and sunshine of the afternoon by closing up shop for a midday rest. It is normal for shops and attractions to be closed for a few hours after lunch at the hottest part of the day. However, to make up for it, you will notice they close later than you might expect in other countries. Try to time your trip to be on the road during siesta!

Things to do when you get to Seville

The fun continues after your trip from Malaga! Here are the best things to do when you get to Seville!

Go to greater heights at the Seville Cathedral Complex

The Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and stands out amid Seville’s mostly Moorish architecture. Its grandiose facade gives way to an equally intricate interior, both of which are so impressive that the cathedral was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t miss the unique pallbearer sculpture marking Christopher Columbus’ tomb! Also part of the cathedral complex is the Giralda Tower, which will bring you 340 ft (104 m) above the city for 360° views!

Admire the Alcazar

The Alcazar of Seville is another of the city’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, alongside the cathedral and Archive of the Indies. Built as a fort and later transformed into a royal palace by the Moors, the Alcazar is the finest example of Mudéjar architecture in the Iberian peninsula. Take a guided tour to be blown away by the impossibly intricate architectural details! If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, the Alcazar and its gardens brought Dorne to life.

Dancing and dinner along the Guadalquivir River

The Guadalquivir River connects Seville to the ocean, making the city Spain’s only commercial river port. The riverfront promenade has plenty of restaurants and bars with outdoor patios along the river where you can enjoy the lively atmosphere of warm Mediterranean nights with other couples and families.

Make dinner reservations at a flamenco tablao for the ultimate Seville experience. Flamenco is the regional dance of Andalusia and has an upbeat and passionate vibe. Enjoy a traditional meal with the added spice of dancers and musicians. If you find the rhythm contagious, sign up for a flamenco class!

When is the best time to visit Seville

The best time to visit Seville is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The temperatures are a pleasant range, at about 64° to 82° F (18° to 28° C) without much rain. Springtime in Seville is especially lovely as the city's 48,000 orange trees burst into bloom.

In contrast, the summer months bring sweltering temperatures exceeding 95° F (35° C). Seville isn’t on the coast and is very far south, so coping with the heat can be challenging. If you visit Seville in summer, be like the locals and take a siesta during the hottest part of the day.

Questions & Answers about Traveling from Malaga to Seville

Malaga has ferry routes to cities like Melilla and Tanger-Med in North Africa, but there is currently no ferry from Malaga to Seville. Seville’s Guadalquivir River meets the ocean about 200 miles (320 km) away from Malaga, and you can take river cruises from Seville.
To get to Seville, you can travel by private car, bus, or train. These all take about 2.5 hours, though with the bus and train you have to factor in additional time getting to and from the stations. If you want the utmost in comfort, convenience, and flexibility, hire a private car service.
Although both cities have an airport, they are not far enough apart to make flying worthwhile. Any commercial flight would require transferring to another airport, usually Barcelona, so this would be slower than any other option. Skip the airport this time and choose ground transportation instead.
A taxi from Malaga to Seville costs about 300 EUR, though it can be more. If you need a larger vehicle for more passengers, the price increases, though this usually comes out to a cheaper per-person price. Don’t rely on a ride-share app (Uber, etc.) for such a long distance. Instead, book ahead of time with a private car company to guarantee a ride and avoid being stranded.
The biggest difference is that Malaga is on the coast. Seville’s nightlife is more calm, with a focus on dinner and drinks, while Malaga has more nightclubs and partying. Visit both and let us know which city you prefer!

Malaga to Seville

Our experience with Daytrip was excellent. They communicated with us well and helped us feel reassured at every stage of our planning. We had a transfer from Malaga Airport directly to our accommodation in Seville (2.5 hour drive). Francisco was waiting for us in the Arrivals area holding a sign with our name on it. He was a calm and careful driver while also answering our questions and pointing out interesting things along the way. He delivered us to the exact place we asked, even though it was a complicated part of old Sevilla. Due to COVID, we were reluctant to take the trains, so we appreciate this option. We will do this more often as it made our arrival so much easier and less hectic, especially after a long over-night flight! Highly recommend.

Wonderful way to travel and to see the sights along the way

We booked a car to take us from Málaga to Sevilla. Manuel showed up right on time and with a bigger vehicle than expected. He was very polite and helpful, loaded our luggage and even opened the doors for us every time. We made a tour stop in Ronda and he knew the area very well, having been there many times. He drove us first to the bottom of the hill for a fantastic view back up to the city (obviously not something a lot of people knew about as it wasn’t very crowded there). He then made recommendations on things we should see in our limited time in the city. After our stop, we continued on the Sevilla. Manuel provided commentary on the areas we travelled through and played some lovely Spanish guitar music. He had water available for us in the car and answered any questions we had. The apartment we had booked in Sevilla was on a very narrow street in the middle of a maze in the old town. Manuel was able to find the location and helped us with our luggage at our destination. (I’m pretty sure we would never have been able to find it on our own!) We then booked a car to take us from Sevilla to Lisbon, Portugal. Again, our driver, Serafim, showed up right on time and was able to find us at our private apartment on the twisty narrow street in the old city. He, too, was very polite and helpful and helped us with our luggage. This time we made a tour stop in Mérida. Serafim knew the area very well, having been there before. He then recommendations on things we should see in our limited time in the city and gave us the directions on how to get to the different locations. Again, after our stop, we continued on to Lisbon. Like our first trip, Serafim provided commentary on the areas we travelled through and answered any questions we had. He was even able to help us troubleshoot when our local phone stopped working after we crossed into Portugal (roaming was turned off.) The apartment we had booked in Lisbon was on a very narrow street in the middle of a maze in the old town. As Serafim is from Lisbon, he was able to find the location and helped us with our luggage at our destination. (As with our first trip, we would never have been able to find it on our own!) Though this service is more than a train or bus would cost, it is worth every penny. Great service and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and comfortable way to travel between cities. EXCELENTE!

Super recomendo a Daytrip!
