Cyprus uses the Euro (EUR) as its currency in the southern part of the island. Credit cards are widely accepted in most establishments, and ATMs are readily available. The Turkish-controlled northern part uses the Turkish Lira.
The best time to visit Limassol is during spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) when temperatures are pleasant and crowds are smaller. Summer offers beach weather but can be very hot, while winter is mild but may have occasional rain. The swimming season extends from May to November.
Pack comfortable walking shoes for archaeological sites and mountain villages, sun protection including hat and sunscreen, swimwear if visiting coastal areas, layers for elevation changes, and a light jacket for mountain regions. Don't forget your camera and water bottle.
Paphos is approximately 42 miles (68 km) west of Limassol along the scenic coastal road. It is the perfect day trip destination to explore the archaeological park, Aphrodite's Rock, and the charming harbor area.
Limassol is very safe for travelers with low crime rates and a welcoming atmosphere. The southern part of Cyprus is politically stable and tourist-friendly. Normal precautions apply, such as watching belongings on beaches and being aware of surroundings, but violent crime is extremely rare.
Near Limassol, you can visit ancient monasteries in the Troodos Mountains, including sites around Omodos village, Byzantine churches with beautiful frescoes, and sacred sites connected to Aphrodite near Paphos. These locations offer insight into Cyprus's rich Orthodox Christian heritage and ancient mythology.
