Located in the lush valley of Faial da Terra, the Salto Do Prego Waterfall is wedged between towering cliffs, dense, verdant forests and rolling pastureland. Hike through the weaving trail laced with mosses, vines and ferns, forming a carpet of green, and reach the waterfall that drops from a height of 20 meters into a tranquil pool. Along the walk, pass small streams that feed into the main stream, pass spritely animals and admire the scenic views of the valley. The Salto Do Prego Waterfall has refreshing and cool water, making it a great place to rejuvenate the body and mind before having a picnic after the walk. Further down the trail is the ‘lost village of Sanguinho’, a settlement which has been uninhabited since the 1970’s and has a magical atmosphere.
