After arriving in Malaga, you'll have the freedom to explore its waterfront and Alcazaba before continuing on to Antequera, where you can admire the megalithic dolmens, all at your leisure. Meanwhile your driver will wait for you nearby, ensuring a stress-free return trip.
Starting with the Phoenicians, every Mediterranean empire for the past 2000 years has sought to control Malaga’s strategic port. For the Moors, the city was so integral that they built their largest fortress in the region here. Today, the 8th century Alcazaba is home to the Archaeological Museum, exhibiting Phoenician and Roman artefacts. The 14th century Gibralfaro castle is connected to the Alcazaba by a stretch of wall, which offers stupendous views of the city. At the foot of the castle is the city’s historic center, with the Roman theatre, bullring, and 16th century Cathedral. Known as 'the one-armed' thanks to its unfinished tower, this palatial Renaissance building houses a series of artistic chapels. Picasso was born in Malaga, so his eponymous museum is a must visit - housed in a 16th century castle, visitors can enjoy the career-spanning collection, and the glass floor in the basement revealing the remains of Phoenician buildings.

Inhabited since antiquity, Roman, Moorish, and Spanish influences have left the town with a rich tapestry of architectural gems. The city is home to over 30 churches, all with opulent interiors. A journey up to the 3rd century citadel rewards explorers with spectacular views of the town, and is the best place to see the remains of the Roman baths, while the optional audio-guide brings the fortress’s long history to life. For visitors who yearn for natural wonders, the Torcal National Park is un-missable, with its unique rock formations flecked with fossils. Not quite as old as the fossils, the 5000 year old Dolmens just outside of town have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 30-meter-long Menga Dolmen is the largest in Europe, and offers visitors the chance to experience one of the most outstanding examples of megalithic architecture in the world.
