No, entrance fees to Butrint National Park are not included in the Daytrip price and need to be purchased at the site. As of recent visits, adult admission is approximately 10 EUR. The Daytrip price covers round-trip private transportation and a professional English-speaking driver who will wait while you explore.
While Ksamil is not included in the standard itinerary, stop durations and optional sightseeing points can be discussed with Daytrip after booking. Just reach out to customer support to explore what's possible, as your driver may be able to accommodate a brief scenic stop depending on your schedule.
Butrint is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of Saranda — roughly a 30-minute drive along the Albanian Riviera. The coastal route is scenic and straightforward, making it one of the most accessible half-day excursions from Saranda.
The park involves a fair amount of walking on uneven terrain, ancient paths, and some inclines. While the main areas are manageable for most visitors, those with significant mobility challenges may find parts of the site difficult. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are highly recommended for everyone.
Highlights include the remarkably preserved Roman Theatre, which once held up to 1,500 spectators; the imposing 6th-century Great Basilica; and the Baptistery, known for its intricate floor mosaics. Visitors can also explore Venetian towers, a well-preserved city wall, and the Lion Gate — all set within a lush national park rich with wildlife.
Butrint is open 8:30 AM to 8 PM in summer and 9 AM to 5:30 PM from November to March. It's a good idea to arrive earlier in the day, especially in peak season, to enjoy the site before crowds build up and to make the most of your 3.5 hours of exploration time.
