Declared a heritage site in 1967, the town of Osuna boasts many fine baroque palaces, mansions, and churches dating form the 16th to 18th centuries.
The origins of Osuna date back to the time of the Tartessians, and the town is thought to have been the Iberian city of Urso. The area has seen a history riddled with conflict, having at different times been occupied by Phoenicians, taken part in the Roman wars between Cesar and Pompeii, and been reclaimed by Ferdinand III during the Christian reconquest in 1239. The town now offers a rich history and culture with many impressive sites worth visiting during your stop. Among its outstanding monuments are the Cepedas palace, the collegiate chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion, the Ducal mausoleum, and the town hall whose interior hosts a magnificent collection of works of the painter Rodriguez Jaldon.
