Greece
Settled for 5000 years, this ancient city's filled with landmarks spanning its long history.
Settled since 3000 BC, the capital of western Greece has been a cosmopolitan center for thousands of years. History lovers can stroll the cobbled streets of Patras' old town, where stunning neoclassical mansions make way to a medieval castle with origins in the 6th century. The remains of the Roman Odeon, and the Orthodox church of Saint Andrew (who was crucified here) tell a tale of the city's history from different eras. Another of the city's landmarks watches over the beautiful views of the port - the Patras lighthouse. Exploring can be exhausting, thankfully Patras has a good answer for this issue: take a break at a local café or restaurant to try some of the delicious local dishes.
