The heart of this historic town is a series of colorful colonial houses courtesy of the Azorean settlers.
Santo Antonio Da Patrulha was founded in the mid-18th century, and soon after, saw a large number of settlers from the Azores. It was these islanders who created the town’s historic center, and still influence its culture to this day. If you’ve never been to the isolated archipelago, or just want to see the town’s cultural heritage, seek out the 150-year-old Azorean houses, elegant church, and regal imperial fountain before heading to the Azores museum, where traditional dress and crafts are on display.
