Albany Covered Bridge

Spanning a rocky riverbed, this historic bridge is a picturesque piece of old New England.

About

First built in 1858, the red-roofed Albany Covered Bridge is one of the highlights of the scenic Kancamagus Highway. Spanning 120 feet across the boulder-strewn Swift River, the wooden frame and red roof perfectly compliment the surrounding forest in any season, though it’s especially delightful in the fall. A signature of New England, it, and New Hampshire’s 53 other covered bridges, are even protected by state law. For three seasons a year, you can drive across the one-lane bridge (and you can still walk across in the winter), so you can appreciate it from every angle. There are even informative signs on both sides to give you a bit of history.
