Catarata Bijagual
One of the tallest waterfalls in Costa Rica, this tumbling torrent is tucked away in a private nature reserve.
About
Despite being 600 feet tall, the impressive Catarata Bijagual is remains relatively unknown, being hidden away in the beautiful Manantial Agua Viva nature reserve. A winding trail works its way to the waterfall, offering teasing glimpses of the white cascade along the way. On the hike, youâre bound to see some of the parkâs residents, which include glass butterflies, toucans, poison dart frogs, and snakes. Once you reach the falls, youâll probably want to cool off, so be sure to refresh yourself in the mountain waters before setting back out. The hike takes about an hour each way, and in the tropical heat, youâll want to bring a lot of water with you. Appropriate footwear is also required.
