Cenote Las Mojarras

This large sinkhole looks a lot like a lake, and is a favourite chill-out spot for locals.

About

The Yucatan’s famous cenotes come in all shapes and sizes, and the open-air Cenote Las Mojarras could easily be mistaken for a lake.Surrounded by jungle and completely exposed to the sun, the water is much warmer and more life-filled than you’ll find in an underground cenote - in fact, Las Mojarras is a species of resident fish. Along with swimming in the refreshing water, the cenote offers a range of activities, from a rope bridge and zipline to ATV tours. If all that fun works up an appetite, there’s a palapa restaurant on site where the local Maya prepare traditional food in an outdoor earth oven.
