Continuing the European tradition of wooden churches, this UNESCO monument was erected in 1663 after the Tartar Invasion, an event commemorated by an inscription near the door. as indicated by the inscription near its door. In 1785, its interior was painted by masters Radu Munteanu and Nicolae Man, and in 1834, the balcony was added to the western side of the nave, the windows of were enlarged, and some areas were repainted. The asymmetric structure is unusual for churches in Maramus, having a more compact interior space. Proving that size doesn’t matter, the iconography inside is considered some of the finest in the country, depicting scenes from the Old and the New Testament, such as Christ and his bride, and the story of Adam and Eve. The most unusual are the scenes of Judgement Day in the ante-temple, where Germans are included among the infidels meant for Hell.
