Domaine de la Citadelle

Nostradamus described this picturesque village as “a boat in an ocean of vineyards", and he’s not wrong.

About

Domaine de la Citadelle spreads out beneath the fortified village of Ménerbes. One of the prettiest viniculture communes in France, the village came to the attention of the English-speaking world through the book (and later a Ridley Scott film with Russell Crowe) “A Good Year” by Peter Mayle. The Domaine de La Citadelle Botanical Gardens encompass terraces of wildflowers and spectacular views. From there you can visit the cellar for some quality wine samples (there's English-speaking staff and try before you buy). The wines produced here on the 74 plots are entirely organic and environmentally sympathetic. Afterwards, take a self-guided tour of the quirky Corkscrew Museum. Many of its 1200 pieces are unique works from before the Industrial Revolution, so individually handmade.
