Tucked away in Cuba’s Sierra Escambray mountain range, El Nicho waterfalls are a popular destination for locals and visitors alike looking for a remote natural escape. Follow the trail through dense forest, keeping an eye out for native birds and wildlife among the trees. After criss-crossing the stream and smaller pools and cascades, you eventually reach the main waterfall. Here, cold mountain water spills over a mossy cliff into a large pool of bright blue water. After the hike, you’ll definitely want to take a dip - but maybe just a short one; the water is cold! From here, the trail leads deeper into the mountains, past other falls and up to a viewpoint where you get a panoramic view of the whole river valley. Please note: 240 CUP entrance fee not included.
