Ghata Wala Mataji Temple Debari

Constructed in 1559 BC by Maharana Uday Singh, this sacred site embodies a rich history and divine intervention.

About

Perched in the heart of Rajasthan's Mewar region, just 10 kilometers from Udaipur, the Ghata Wali Mata temple stands as a testament to devotion and protection. Legend has it that the Maharana sought the blessings of Ghata Wali Mata for victory in battles against Mughal invaders. The temple derives its name from an earthen mound placed on the ghat, believed to have been established by Maharana Uday Singh himself, enhancing its sanctity. The temple's significance lies in the miraculous tales surrounding Ghata Wali Mata. During the construction of the Udaipur to Chittorgarh highway, attempts to relocate the temple were met with mysterious sightings. Engineers reported seeing a girl with flowing hair, brandishing a sword and shield whenever they used instruments like binoculars for surveying. These inexplicable visions prompted a shift in the highway's course, ensuring the preservation of the temple. Pilgrims and history enthusiasts alike are drawn to this hallowed ground, where tales of the Mother Goddess's miraculous protection continue to captivate.
