Namest nad Oslavou Castle

This tiny Czech village is home to a miniaturized version of Prague’s iconic Charles bridge, and lavish Renaissance castle.

About

Tucked away in the Southern Czech Republic, this small riverfront village does something. Building from the ruins of a 13th century stronghold, the Žerotín family erected this spacious Renaissance castle in the mid 15th century. Tours take visitors through the castle’s interior, which still looks like it did when it was used as a noble residence. The rooms are still furnished with tapestries, precious paintings and historical furniture, and the library still has its rich book stock and a barrel ceiling with the unique fresco decoration. Outside, the quiet inner courtyard is lined with Renaissance arcades. The castle can be accessed by car, or visitors can walk through the village, and across the miniature version of Prague’s Charles Bridge.
