Neo Fauna
This rehabilitation center releases animals back into the wild, including the rare butterflies and frogs they breed on site.
About
For over 20 years, Neo Fauna has been working to conserve Costa Ricaâs wildlife while helping educate people to become better environmentalists. Many of the animals here have been rescued and are being rehabilitated to be released into the wild. Neo Fauna is also unique in their butterfly and frog farms. Covering 6600 square meters, making it Costa Ricaâs largest butterfly park, over 50 species of colorful butterflies and 10 species of frog are bred here to help repopulate the forest. The guided tour shares fascinating insights about all the animals, with special care being given to snakes because theyâre often killed indiscriminately. Because this is a hands on rehabilitation center, it offers a personal, up-close experience with these animals that you wonât find at a zoo. And unlike a zoo or government financed operation, your entrance fee goes directly to keeping the residents of Neo Fauna fed and cared for.
