Built by Court Architect Nicolas de Pigage at the request of Elector Palatine Charles Theodor in the mid 18th century, careful attention to ensure the palace and its grounds worked together to create a luxurious gestalt. The three buildings of the complex offer three distinct museum experiences, and visitors can choose whether to enjoy the Museum Corps de Logis, showcasing the history of Benrath and its architecture the Museum for Landscape Art, or the Natural Science Museum. Or all three! The palace gardens run along the river Rhine, making them a great place to enjoy a peaceful walk while alternating between views of the palace the the river.
