Barcelona to Dali's Figueres: Private day trip

Salvador Dali was born in Figueres and chose to build a museum here on the site of a former municipal theater. Dali designed the museum himself, turning the building into a massive surrealist sculpture, and is even buried in a crypt beneath the theater’s stage. Visitors are immediately greeted by the giant eggs and geodesic dome atop the building, and once inside, can explore optical illusion rooms, surrealist sculptures, and a range of jewelry and paintings by Dali. Dali spent his childhood summers in the whitewashed fishing village of Cadaques, and later purchased a fisherman’s hut in nearby Port Lligat bay. This hut served as his primary residence until the early eighties and is now a museum with eccentric decor. Visitors can explore Dali’s library, bedrooms, and even see the studio where he painted some of his most famous works.
