Villefranche-sur-Mer to Antibes and Juan-les-Pins: Private day trip

An important ancient Greco-Roman port city, Antibes long-served as the gateway to Gaul. After the fall of Rome, Seigneur Rodoart fortified the town against barbarian attacks, which allowed to to weather the entirety of modern history. In the 19th century, wealthy people from all over the world discovered its innate beauty and built glorious summer mansions here. This in turn inspired many of the great artists to visit this pretty harbour city. Today, you can follow a trail that takes in the sites painted by such artists as Dameron, Boudin, Monet, Meissonier, and Picasso. Picasso was especially prolific during his short stay at the 14th century Grimaldi Castle, and left many of his works there. His widow later added to the collection, leaving the Musée Picasso with one of the finest collection of his works in the world.
