One of the oldest examples of Romanesque architecture in the region, this ancient basilica wears its age with pride. After almost 1000 years of heavy use, the basilica underwent heavy renovations in the 19th century, which also saw the addition of the bell tower. Over the years, the frescoes that lined the interiors have worn away, leaving behind faded remnants for visitors to try to decipher. The baptistery didnтАЩt see as much use over the years, and still has its frescoes dating from the 14th century and earlier. Sitting on the banks of the Lambro river, a walk in the surrounding park is a relaxing way to appreciate this ancient relic from every angle.
