This rather unorthodox тАЬpresentтАЭ was given to Hitler on his 50th birthday by the Nazi Party. Designed by Martin Bormann, HitlerтАЩs private secretary, who was second only to Hitler himself in terms of political power, it still stands in its original condition. Although considered an architectural masterpiece тАФ the building is perched on a sheer rock face while the access road was cut into previously impassable terrain тАФ it has been preserved as a reminder of the inhumane crimes that were planned there. Created to impress, the тАЬsummit of powerтАЭ at the top can only be reached by the brass elevator buried in the heart of the mountain. The views from the top over Berchtesgaden, Salzburg, and the Konisee River have to be seen to be believed. The Eagles Nest is a historic symbol of insanity that even with its stunning location, today stands as a forceful reminder of one manтАЩs crimes against humanity. A bus will bring you from the parking lot up to the Eagle's Nest. We recommend booking tickets in advance at https://kehlsteinhaus.axess.shop/de/ProductsNgTicket/TicketPredateableMobile?poolNr=1&projNr=388&ticketTypeNr=1&groupId=1&Month=6&Year=2023 Due to its high elevation the Eagle's Nest is only open in summer, usually from about mid-May through October.
