Cerro Tres Kandu, also known as Cerro Pero, is the highest peak in Paraguay, and was a historically important holding to the Armed Forces of Paraguay because of its strategic location. It was used for radio communication facilitated by the national electric company. Today, the radio installations are no longer in operation and the trails are accessible to visitors for a small fee. To reach the top, expect to spend around 1.5 hours of navigating the moderately difficult and, at times, steep terrain. Take a break at one of the viewpoints on the way to the peak to take in the stunning panoramic views of the coloful scenery below.
