Nara Park, established in 1880, encapsulates many of the city's prominent attractions including Todaiji, Kasuga Taisha, Kofukuji, and the Nara National Museum, making it a cultural and historical haven. Wandering throughout the grounds are Nara’s deer, numbering over 1,000 and regarded as divine messengers in Japanese culture. Visitors can purchase deer crackers to interact with these gentle creatures. Nara Park nestles at the foot of Mt. Wakakusa and seamlessly integrates charming temples amidst natural splendor. Todaiji Temple, home to an impressive 15-meter Buddha statue, stands as the most eminent among Nara's seven grand temples. Nandaimon Gate grants entry, where colossal guardian figures greet guests. Adjacent to Todaiji is Nigatsudo, which offers sweeping city views. Kasugataisha Shrine, situated across the park from Todaiji, boasts vermilion and white buildings adorned with exquisite brass lanterns illuminated biannually. The shrine is renowned for its May-blooming wisteria.
