Renoir Museum

The charming estate where Pierre-Auguste lived with his family offers a look into the artist's personal life - and of course, showcases a number of his works.

Renoir wasn't born in Cagnes-sur-Mer, but after visiting with Paul C├йzanne, fell in love with the village, ultimately moving into the house that's now Renoir Museum. Surrounding the home where he and his wife, one of his models Aline Charigot, and three sons lived is a lovely estate liberally scattered with olive and citrus trees overlooking Cape of Antibes. The house itself is both neat and striking from the outside, though inside the kitchen and bathroom were built to be functional rather than to impress. While these give a glimpse of the artist's personal life, you couldn't call it the Renoir Museum without a collection of his work. Along with the furniture of the artistтАЩs studio there's 40 sculptures and 15 original paintings.
