The Gate of the Gods

According to some, this rock-hewn doorway is a stargate to another dimension.

Though it was crafted by the Inca centuries ago, The Gate of the Gods wasn't discovered until the 1990s when a local guide stumbled across the site while out walking. Though this 6-foot-tall doorway is only a hand deep, it's led to some fanciful speculation. The popular archaeological consensus is that it is nothing more than an unfinished construction project, and interesting local landmark. However, there are many who believe it to be a gateway used by gods and heroes, and some even speak of it as being a possible multi-dimensional portal. As is so often true of Incan sites, the real mystique comes from the not knowing. Then, of course, there's the beautiful natural surroundings of the rock ridge the gate was carved into, which warrant a bit of exploration.
