Overview: Car trip from Bruges to Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful places on earth, so itтАЩs unsurprising that more than 20 million tourists visit this picturesque city in the Netherlands annually. Many tourists travel via car service from Bruges to Amsterdam and enjoy themselves while taking in the sights as they travel from one country to the next.
Those who want to travel from Bruges to Amsterdam will be pleased to learn it can be done within a day. The distance between the two Bruges in Belgium and Amsterdam in the Netherlands is only 158 miles (254 kilometers), equating to a short three-hour trip by car.
About Amsterdam
By locals, Amsterdam is fondly referred to as the тАШVenice of the NorthтАЩ with its numerous canals, which have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the capital of the Netherlands, it attracts millions of visitors every year from Bruges to Amsterdam, and itтАЩs not hard to imagine why, considering everything there is to see and do in this illustrious city.
With its lux canal houses and charming gabled facades, Amsterdam is a delight to the eyes whether you visit during the day or night. This city has numerous architectural wonders, from old-world windmills, drawbridges, and hole-in-the-wall eateries to cozy brick-constructed houses with complicated masonry and elaborative decorative elements.
ItтАЩs also a haven for artists and history lovers, with the city having the most museums per square meter in the entire world. Some must-visit museums include the Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, and Stedelijk Museums.
Besides architectural sights and historical gems, Amsterdam can be visited year-round by car, train, boat, or bus, thanks to its moderate temperate climate. This cityтАЩs weather patterns are greatly influenced by its location between the ferocious North Sea and a large freshwater lake. The lake can be traversed during the day since the city offers numerous boat tours.
In addition, adventurers at heart and bike enthusiasts will love the simple fun this city offers with its sprawling paths. Amsterdam has more than 248 miles (400 km) of bike lanes, with about 1.2 million bikes in the city. Those who donтАЩt travel with a bike can rent one or concede to simply trying to spot one in one of the canals from a ferry or luxury barge.
Amsterdam also has more bridges than Paris; the most famous bridge that can be visited is the Magere Brug or Skinny Bridge. ItтАЩs perfect for pictures or wandering across while taking in the sighs and sipping on a warm beverage. A trip can be rounded out by a visit to the Dancing Houses of Amsterdam or the floating flower market thatтАЩs open all year round. They are a peculiar sight to behold but afford a once-in-a-lifetime picture opportunity.
From Bruges to Amsterdam: Travel tips
If youтАЩre planning on traveling from Burges to Amsterdam, there are a few travel tips you need to keep in mind as you prepare to be wowed by one of the most famous cities in the world.
Book your trip in advance
Unfortunately, the biggest cost of traveling from Burges to Amsterdam is accommodation. ThatтАЩs why itтАЩs extremely important to plan and book your trip in advance.
Since many private owners have removed their properties from sites like Airbnb in recent years, hotels are the go-to option for tourists. However, they can be incredibly expensive, especially for last-minute travels. To avoid this, try booking a trip to Amsterdam outside peak season or looking for accommodation deals and specials.
Get skip-the-line tickets
You used to be able to get into many of the popular attractions by buying tickets on the day, usually involving long line waits. This is no longer the reality, as tickets sell out a week or two in advance during peak seasons.
So, if youтАЩre traveling from Burges to Amsterdam to see major attractions like Anne Frank House or any popular museums, buy your tickets online before your trip to guarantee you get to see the places on your travel list.
Choose the right car service
Although you can get to many of the Amsterdam city attractions on foot, itтАЩs best to look into car service providers like Daytrip, which offers tourists the chance to see the many sights along the way from Bruges to Amsterdam. With Daytrip, your driver will easily navigate the many stops along the ride, ensuring your comfort while you enjoy the local sights.

The flight should take 50 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on stopovers and connection times.
Bruges to Amsterdam via private car transfer
If traveling by ferry тАУ which isnтАЩt typically possible тАУ is the most inconvenient way to travel from Bruges to Amsterdam, driving through a private car transfer is the most convenient.
A private car transport service like Daytrip will allow you to be easily fetched from your accommodation in Bruges and dropped off at your target destination in Amsterdam.

Things to do when you get to Amsterdam
When visiting the beautiful city of Amsterdam, there are a few attractions you shouldnтАЩt forget to see. So, if youтАЩre planning a trip from Bruges to Amsterdam and want to visit a few places that offer a mix of well-known and little-known, have a look below.
The Royal Palace
The Royal Palace in Amsterdam dates back to the 1600s, but it wasnтАЩt always a royal palace. It used to exist as the cityтАЩs town hall until King Louis Napoleon moved into it in 1806. You can find The Royal Palace on Dam Square, but if you want to explore it, you must buy a ticket to attend a tour or special exhibit.
Although it might not be as grand as FranceтАЩs Versailles or have sprawling gardens like ViennaтАЩs Schonbrunn, itтАЩs still worth visiting. Its spectacular marble flooring, one-of-a-kind artworks, tapestries of historical events, and a central hall with giant world maps pictured on the floor will be a feast for the eyes.
Foodhallen
Lovers of all things food have to make a stop by Foodhallen. This location is almost a district within itself with more than 20 different food stands encouraging visitors to try everything and anything from sushi and Basque pintox to Dutch bitterballen and dim sum.
Besides offering delicious food, Foodhallen is home to four bars that undoubtedly have any beverage you could want, including craft beers unique to the region. Depending on when you visit, you might also be entertained by a live band, and everyone speaks English, so you wonтАЩt need to worry about ordering the wrong thing!
Albert Cuypmarkt Market
Are you wondering where you will get your souvenirs? One of the best places to visit if you want to grab a few mementos from your trip to Amsterdam is the Albert Cuypmarkt market in the De Pijp neighborhood.
This market is AmsterdamтАЩs most famous, offering everything you could imagine or need, from food, ceramics, flowers, and art to fashion, jewelry, and homemade products. So, if youтАЩre in the mood for shopping and a snack, donтАЩt forget to stop by.
Our Lord In The Attic Church
The clandestine Our Lord In The Attic church dates back to the 1660s and is unusual in the fact itтАЩs hidden within the top three floors of a canal house and has a peculiar pink color scheme and Baroque altar.
Owing to its covert locations, very few people knew about this church for more than 200 years, making it one of AmsterdamтАЩs best-kept secrets. You should visit to learn more about how this church came to be and why it was hidden away from the public eye.

Brugge to Amsterdam via De Haar Castle
тАЬPerfect trip! The driver picked us up on-time (5 minutes early), helped with the luggage (we had 3 heavy bags) and drove us safely from Brugge to Amsterdam via our 2 hr stopover at De Haar Castle. Can not recommend him highly enough!!!тАЭ
Private Transfer Amsterdam to Bruges
тАЬOur transport was great. Effortless as it should be. Bernard B. was right on time and described some areas as we passed by. The car was spacious and clean. I would use your service again. Thank you CathyтАЭ
Great Daytrip Experience Belgium and France
тАЬGreat experience using Daytrip twice in Europe. Trip 1 Amsterdam to Bruges. Trip 2 Bruges to Paris. On both occasions we had the same driver Philippe who made the journey interesting, extremely comfortable and timely. We had a lovely 1 hour stop in Antwerp for the Bruges journey and a small snack break in Somme for the Paris trip. We changed our pick up time for the Paris trip but this was not an issue as we had requested the change more than 48 hours prior to pick up. I would highly recommend Daytrip (if you are willing to pay the premium) and you want seamless door to door service. It is also convenient if you have a bit more luggage but still want to make short stops to see some new sites along the way.тАЭ
тАЬAbsolutely best decision we have made this holiday! Company was quick to reply to emails. Niels Z Was a fantastic driver. There to collect us from our hotel early. He was great to chat to and very informative. We stopped in Gouda on the way through for a coffee and stretch our legsтАЭ
Airport pickup AMS to lodging in Brugge
тАЬWe chose to travel via Day Trip from Amsterdam airport to our apartment we were renting in Brugge. It totally took the stress out of going to the train station and making a change of trains in Brussels. It was Very pleasant carefee way to journey To Brugge that was an excellent choice. We had an extremely pleasant driver and was given a picture of him prior to the scheduled arrival. I highly recommend it!!!тАЭ
тАЬNiels from Daytrip was an incredible host and driver for us. He was extremely knowledgeable about the region, spoke excellent English, and provided great service and conversation. I would recommend Daytrip and Niels if anyone is planning on visiting Amsterdam and planning a day trip.тАЭ
тАЬThis is a review for a trip from Bruges to Amsterdam, we used Daytrip and the service was fantastic! The driver Sayed S.M. was early, and his driving skills were excellent. We felt safe, secure and never felt we we needed to watch the road etc. He drove us in a driving rainstorm when arriving to Amsterdam without any hesitation or concerns. I would highly recommend Sayed for any driving trips. His vehicle was comfortable and actually quite luxurious. He was friendly and very polite. I will recommend this company and service to anyone I can! for any trip anywhere. We will use Daytrip again.тАЭ
тАЬBecause of some illness, we were unable to take the train from Bruges to Amsterdam to catch our plane home. Went to Daytrip website, had a confirmation within 10 minutes for a driver the next day. Rauof was great: on time, friendly, even stopped for us twice when I was not feeling well. He was a life-saver, and the price was so reasonable.I can't recommend Daytrip highly enough. You should have 10 stars!тАЭ
Fantastically Stress-Free & Easy
тАЬI planned an Amsterdam -> Bruge -> Paris trip for my boyfriend for his birthday and wanted to make it as stress-free as possible for the both of us, which meant trying knocking out dealing with driving or confusion with trains. This was the absolute best service that made the trip efficient, easy, and worry-free to get us country to country. The drivers were always on time, if not early. They were easy-going and let us sleep during the ride, as well as included refreshments for the road. They checked in on us every now and then to ensure our comfort during the long journeys and made us feel very comfortable. The pricing is also completely worth its value. Top notch service, company, options, routes, and concept. Absolutely would recommend!!тАЭ
